To review the instructions on importing, pausing, and canceling an import, or details on the Import Statuses and Details expand the corresponding section below.

Creating an Import

To initiate a new import, follow these steps:

  1. From the Imports page, click on the "+ New Import" link

  2. Select the Source Integration.

  3. Choose your preferred method for importing courses:

    • Terms: Select a term and import all courses associated with the term.

    • CSV Upload: Upload a CSV file containing course IDs.

    • Course ID(s): Enter Canvas Course IDs manually.

    • Course Search: Enter course names, course codes, or SIS ID to import.

    • Course End Date: Select a course end date to import courses ending before this date.

  4. After making your selections, click the "Start Import" button.

Once you click "Start Import," the import process will begin, and you will be redirected to the Import page.

NOTE:

  • Terms: if a term was created after the integration to Canvas. Click the “Refresh Terms” link to import the Term.

  • Course ID(s): For importing a large number of Course IDs, it is recommended to use CSV Upload.

Pausing an Import

You can pause and resume an Import Run as needed directly from the Imports page.

There are three methods to pause an import:

  1. Pause All Imports: This option pauses all current import runs in progress.

    • Click the "Pause All Imports" link located above the Integration tiles.

  2. Pause Imports by Integration: This stops imports for a specific integration.

    • Click the "Pause Import" link on the integration tile.

  3. Pause Import by Run: Pause an import for a specific run.

    • Click the Pause icon next to the import on the Import Run list.

To resume the Imports, simply click the Resume Import link that will appear when an Import is paused.

NOTE:

  • Pausing an import allows processing courses to complete but pauses the import of courses that are in the queue.

Canceling an Import

To cancel an import, click the X icon next to the import on the Import Run list.

Canceling an import halts its completion.

Once an import is canceled, it cannot be resumed.

Import Statuses and Details

The Import Run list offers an overview of each import's status, the method of import, and the import date.

  • Queued: Courses waiting in line for archiving.

  • Failed: Courses that were unable to archive successfully.

  • Not Found: Courses that could not be located.

  • Skipped: Courses previously archived in another import.

  • Processing: Courses currently undergoing archiving.

  • Completed: Courses successfully archived.

For comprehensive details of an import, including associated courses and their statuses, click on a row in the Import List to navigate to the import details page.
