Setting up your Scaffold AI Detection instance.

Accessing Scaffold AI Dection

Once your Scaffold AI Detection instance is created, the Point of Contact will receive an email with their login details. From there, they can proceed to set up the instance or invite more users.

Setting Up Scaffold AI Detection

Apply Institution Theme

To update the theme on your institution’s Scaffold AI Detection instance:

  1. Select Admin in the Navigation menu.

  2. Select Styling

  3. Click the Upload Logo to replace the current logo.

  4. Click the Select Color buttons, to update the colors to use for the theme.

  5. Preview the new colors and ensure they will meet accessibility requirements.

  6. Click Save

Changes will apply in a few minutes after saving.

Inviting Users

To add users

  1. Go to Users & Roles in the navigation menu.

  2. Click Add User.

  3. Enter email addresses on the User Create page.

  4. Click Process.

  5. Review and adjust the list of accounts.

  6. Click Create Accounts.

Note:

  • Only create accounts for users who should have access firectly in Scaffold AI. Faculty accounts will be created automatically when they select the AI Detection tool in their Canvas course.

  • If any errors are detected in the User Account you are creating, you will need to resolve those errors prior to the account being created (e.g. email aliases or usernames already in use).

Creating the Integration to Canvas

The integration between Scaffold AI and Canvas has two parts.

  • Integrating Canvas in Scaffold AI Detection

    • Creating the integration to Canvas in the Scaffold AI instance.

    • A Canvas Utility Account, with the proper permissions is required for this step.

      • Note: A Canvas Utility Account is a Canvas User Account, that is created specifically for use with Scaffold AI.

  • Canvas LTI Launch

    • Set up the LTI Launch in Canvas at the subaccount or course level.

    • Faculty can then access Probability reports directly in their Canvas courses.

Steps to Integrate Canvas in Scaffold AI Detection

  1. Click Admin from the navigation menu.

  2. Select Integrations.

  3. Click + New Integration

  4. Fill in the following details only (all other fields can be left blank):

    • LMS Data Direction: Source

    • LMS Type: Canvas

    • Username: Enter the Canvas Utility Account username

    • Password: Enter the Canvas Utility Account password

    • Subaccount: Specify the account that will access courses

    • Friendly Name: Enter a name for your integration

    • Integration URL: Provide the non SSO URL login to the LMS

  5. Click Save

  • Note: Once the integration has been saved, as part of the creation process 10 Access Token will be created from the Utility Account that was used in the integration. Depending on your Canvas email settings, you may get up to 10 emails regarding the creation of the access tokens.

Importing Terms

After the integration has been created in Scaffold AI, you will then want to select terms to import.

To add a term to import,

  1. From the integrations page, select the edit icon next to the integration that was created.

  2. Scroll to the Terms to Import section.

  3. Click + Add Term

  4. In the Term Select dialog, select a Term

  5. Close the dialog window

  6. Turn on Auto Import Terms

  7. Click Save

The courses for the selected terms will start processing. Completion time will vary based on the number and size of the courses.

Canvas LTI Launch Steps

After completing the integration in Scaffold AI, you will set up the LTI Launch in Canvas to allow faculty to view Course Probability reports within their Canvas courses. To do this, retrieve the LTI Details from the integration created in Scaffold AI.

The LTI Launch can be added to individual courses or all courses within a subaccount. To add the LTI:

  1. Go to the subaccount or course where you want to add the LTI tool.

  2. Click on Settings in the navigation menu.

  3. Select the Apps tab at the top.

  4. Click View App Configurations.

  5. Click the +App button.

  6. Choose Paste XML for the Configuration Type.

  7. Enter AI Detection as the tool name.

  8. Input the provided Consumer Key and Shared Secret.

  9. Paste the XML contents into the XML Configuration field.

  10. Click Submit.

Once submitted, the AI Detection LTI will appear in the course navigation menu.

Note: The AI Detection tool that appears in the Canvas course navigation will not be visible to student.
